If you try to exit the Purchase Order Entry program after assigning a
purchase order number, an error message is displayed. You must save the
purchase order before exiting the program.
Cursor Position on Entry
Normally, the cursor is positioned in the same field each time you return to
the Purchase Order Header screen after building a purchase order. However,
the first field in which the cursor stops may not necessarily be the first one
on the screen, the PO type field. Using the Purchase Order Pre-Header by
Session Preferences program, you can set the cursor to stop at either the PO
type field or the PO # field. If the selected field is not active for the
purchase order screen you are working with, the cursor stops in the first
active field.
When you initially access the Purchase Order Entry program from the menu,
the cursor may not begin in the field specified in the Purchase Order
Pre-Header by Session Preferences program. This depends on the default
values specified for the pre-header fields. If the cursor is set to stop first in
the PO type field, the cursor begins in the PO type field when you first
access the Purchase Order Entry program, and on all purchase orders you
create thereafter until you change the preference.
Similarly, if the cursor is set to stop first in the PO # field and none of the
default values specified in that program are *PREVIOUS*, the cursor begins
in the PO # field when you first access the Purchase Order Entry program,
and on all purchase orders you create thereafter until you change the
preference.
However, if the cursor is set to stop in the PO # field first and *PREVIOUS*
has been specified for the default value at any of the pre-header fields, the
cursor stops in the PO type field first upon initial access of the Purchase
Order Entry program. But thereafter the cursor stops first in the PO # field
on all purchase orders you create until you change the preference. This
happens upon initial access of the Purchase Order Entry program, because
there are no previous values to be displayed, since no purchase orders have
previously been entered.
If the default value for any of the pre-header fields is set to
*NONE* in the Purchase Order Pre-Header by Session
Preferences program, the cursor always begins in the PO type
field.
Refer to your System Manager's Guide for more information and instructions
for the Purchase Order Pre-Header by Session Preferences program.
